Power Systems Engineer - USA, India

This job requires some travel across the country and extensive customer interaction on the phone and via email. Must have excellent communication skills over the phone, via presentations and in writing. Candidates with prior experience in power systems modelling and simulation are preferred.  The technical aspect of the job includes but is not limited to performing the following activities:

  • Technical Marketing: You will be interacting with customers (researchers, professors, utility engineers and power systems consultants) and providing them with technical details of our products and services. Arrange and participate in product demonstrations at client sites, trade shows and conferences. Our products include:

    • PSCAD – Electro-Magnetic Transients; 

    • DSATools – Load flow and Transient Stability;

    • RTDS – Real – time Hardware In Loop simulator; 

    • DesignBase – Industrial systems simulator including protection coordination, load flow and arc flash; 

    • Spitzenberger and Spies  Amplifiers and test equipment.

  • Research and Development: Develop new models and systems using above simulators, create case studies and application notes.

  • Studies: Perform and participate in commercial power system simulation studies and testing using above simulation tools.

  • Commissioning and Training: Arrange and participate in customer training at our office and on-site. Participate in commissioning at customer sites and provide on-site training and technical support.

  • Customer Support: Provide technical support through phone, email and online.


Internships - USA, India

Learn more about the field of power systems engineering with an internship at Nayak.  Internships will be held over the summers in between the end of spring semester and the following fall semester.  As an intern, you will learn about power systems, as well as how to use modelling and simulation tools for power systems. 

As an intern you must have the following qualifications:

  • Currently a student enrolled in or a recent graduate of a 4-year degree program from an accredited university 

  • Working towards completion of Bachelors, Masters or Doctorate Degree​

  • Majoring in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Power Engineering, or related engineering fields

  • Proficient with computers

  • Solid foundation of electric circuits

Additional preferred qualifications:

  • Programming experience (Python, Java, C, etc.)

  • Coursework related to power systems and power electronics
